Once this is done, the schematic design is done and then checked internally by another engineer. This is then released to the customer for sign off. The PCB layout is then conducted providing 3D step files of the board to check against the mechanical design. This followed by internal and customer reviews and any resulting changes. At this point the initial prototypes are produced and testing begins.
The number of prototypes spins beyond a revision B is usually defined by the customer depending on if this is a high-volume part or a demonstrator for R&D purposes. A Production Pack is produced as the final output of the design work.
